Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation & Mattifying Setting Powder - Review

too faced, peach perfect comfort matte foundation, mattifying setting powder, review, makeup

It's a range I have been waiting ages and ages for...

The latest instalment of Too Faced's peachy craze finally arrived on the Debenhams website early last month (May).

I'm not quite sure why they do this...there appears to be an annoying habit when it comes to product releases from Too Faced in the UK by choosing this topsy-turvy process where earlier collections arriving here much later, sometimes almost a year later than the newer releases. Take the new Natural and Festival range for example, both released a lot later than the Peach. And I know, I know, I get that Too Faced opened a store in London. But it's still annoying though, isn't it?

Anyways. I recently celebrated being the wrong side of 45 (I need to remind me I'm close to being half a century!) and the one thing I wanted was to try some products from the new Peach collection. I managed to get the Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation, Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder and the Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow palette ( didn't think I was gonna miss out on a new eyeshadow palette, did you? lol!) Being as its Summer and after hearing countless of good reviews on the foundation, all saying it gives a lovely finish and wears really well, it seemed a no-brainer to try during these warmer months.

The palette, however, will be reviewed at a later date when I've had a good chance to play with it. But one thing I will say that it does smell of peach!

Anyways. Let's get on with the review...

Despite having combination skin, I seem to favour more satin and dewier formulas over mattes these days, as mattes can be trickier to wear with age. They have a tendency to look a little heavy, and shall we say... too matte? And whilst they do an excellent job at keeping tabs on my oily t-zone, they can equally do a excellent job at making my skin look "haggard" due to their thicker & heavier textures, and the only matte or demi-matte foundations I ever wear is Tarte's Amazonian Clay or Revlon's Colourstay in the Oil/Combination formula. I do like both of these but the shades aren't quite right for my skin tone.

Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation:

I will cut to the chase and a say it's not often a product comes along that you love from the very first wear. For me, finding a formula such as this one has been a long time coming. It contains the modern way to wearing matte, and I for one am loving it! It really has been a great foundation to wear as those temperatures start to rise!

In case you've never tried Too Faced before, they are a cruelty-free brand that also provide a selection products that are vegan-friendly and this foundation is one of them.

The Peach Perfect Comfort Matte is an oil-free, transfer resistant, medium coverage foundation that provides a soft matte finish without losing the skin's natural glow - (kinda mimicking the satin skin look from a peach, I guess?) and is meant to provide 14 hours of photo-friendly wear. The formula is infused with "Exclusive Comfort Matte Technology" (whatever the hell that is...) and contains real peaches and sweet fig milk which gives a faint peach scent. The scent would only be noticed when placed close to the nose which I don't find bothersome at all. In fact, I actually really like it!

Shades & Packaging:

The foundation also comes in 20 shades and is packaged in one of the most friendliest designs I think to hit the 21st century. The It Cosmetics style pump tube brings light relief it's not going smash due to butter fingers or leak in your bag whilst travelling. The product also comes with an impressive amount of 48 ml as appose to the usual 30 ml seen with most foundations, which for the price at £27.00 makes this very good value for money. After much debate on the shade, (the shades online was an absolute nightmare to work out) I finally went for Natural Beige. For now, that match is pretty much spot-on even though it does swatch a little on the peachy side to what I'd normally go for. However, the rest of my body is sporting a light tan at the moment, so for now this is perfect!

For application, one pump is enough to cover the entire face, with just a smidgen more for extra coverage on the cheek area where I tend to get a little redness. I find a brush works best for this (I been using my buffing brush from Eco Tools) and whilst the formula can feel as though it attaches to the skin a little, it doesn't lose that ability to blend. It's very easy to work with and provides good coverage quite quickly, but despite that initial coverage, I was still able to see my skin coming through (in a good way) so my skin still looked liked skin. But if you wanted a very sheer coverage, that could easily be achieved with a damp sponge or by using a much denser brush such as an Artis type design which worked great for this.

At first glance, the formula can appear a little on the thick-ish side, but during application it all comes clear that this is going to be a very lightweight and comfortable affair without the risk of caking or settling in my lines on my forehead. Another thing you will notice is the formula will look a little on the dewier side to what you'd normally expect from a matte foundation, but after a few moments, it does dry down to that soft satin veil and looks very smooth and flawless, with my pores looking a lot less noticeable. The wear time is pretty awesome as my t-zone holds up really well before the need to powder again. But it was the overall wear that's really impressing me - over 12 hours before I notice any product has come off from the chin or nose area, and that is on a hot day! One thing I did notice was that it oxidised a little when swatched on my arm, but once on my skin I didn't really notice it.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Butylene Glycol, Trimethyl Pentaphenyl Trisiloxane, Silica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Magnesium Sulfate, Tribehenin, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Bis-PEG/PPG-14/14 Dimethicone, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Phenyl Methicone, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Laureth-7, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Cellulose Gum, Methicone, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetramethyl Hexaphenyl Tetrasiloxane, Glycerin, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Xanthan Gum, Dimethicone Silylate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Fragrance/Parfum, Sorbic Acid, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Benzoate, Tocopherol, Potassium Sorbate, BHT, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

Peach Perfect Mattifying Loose Setting Powder:

Now if you've been following me for a while, you will know that I LOVE their Primed & Poreless Powder!!! That powder gives me the most flawless finish I have ever experienced, but unfortunately, that doesn't last very long due to my oily t-zone. Plus, it can feel a little drying when used on my cheeks. So I was really hoping this new one would still give me the benefits of the finish, without losing the ability to keep my skin matte and comfortable. I think I may have found it...just maybe...

For £20.00, you get 35g of peachy scented powder that's meant to be universal peach tint to brighten skin and create a silky smooth matte canvas without it looking dry. It comes packaged with a cute peach design on the sieve area, but what's really great about this packaging is the flip top lid they've added for extra protection. It keeps the powder locked away and prevent any powder from leaking through whilst not in use. There's nothing worse than having powder leaking everywhere, is there?

The powder is very finely milled which I initially was a little worried about. I find some powders are so finely milled, they can't hold up the oils - not this one! This is so good, and once again just like the foundation, gives my skin a soft matte finish.  Now I won't say this keeps my skin super matte all day, what I will say is my t-zone isn't so oily that I need to run to bathroom for tissue to blot (lol!) only really needing to do it once because it holds up so well. I was also worried that the peach tint would make my skin look orange! But it doesn't. If anything, it looks like a tinted version of the Primed & Poreless, except the Primed & Poreless contains silica whereas the Peach one contains talc. I'd have to buy a new P&P to be certain but that blurring aspect is pretty close!

Now if you want my opinion when it comes to baking... I'm sorry, you've come to the wrong place. I don't bake. Never have and never will! Lol!

Ingredients: Talc, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch/Zea Mays Starch, Sodium Saccharin, Fragrance/Parfum, Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Benzyl Benzoate, Carmine (CI 75470), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492).
