Currently trialling afforadable products for hair & skin

Skin & Hair Products from Nivea Q10 Vitamin C Range, Korres & Caolion

Being a beauty blogger means I'm often trying out new products as I'm always looking out for the next best thing. Today, I'm going to be sharing with you a mixture of great affordable skincare from the high street, and a hair product that I picked up from bargain store TK Maxx.

Nivea Q10 Plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Range

Nivea Q10 Plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Range*  Around £12.99. But is often on offer!

I find whenever we enter a new season, my skin plays-up a bit before settling down, with Autumn generally being the worst for this as the healthy glow gained from spending time outside decides to have a holiday of its own. So, I was really pleased when Nivea sent me some products containing vitamin C from their new range as I know how effective it can be.

Why Vitamin C?

At the moment, there seems to be a bit of a buzz surrounding this ingredient and I think this is down to new formulations (although some are stronger than others) as there's been quite a number products that have been recently released containing this highly effective antioxidant. Nivea has combined two, as this range comes with Q10 as well.

Of course, vitamin C absorbed internally is always going to be the better way, but when used topically it can provide many benefits to the skin - and like I just said, it works as a great  antioxidant because it helps to protect collagen from free-radicals caused by the environment. It helps improve hydration too which is great for slowing down those unwanted wrinkles! Plus, also due to its brightening properties, vitamin c can also help achieve a more even skin tone. Some studies have shown (depending on strength) it can be very effective in reducing UV induced damage such as hyperpigmentation.

I've got to admit, for a long while I didn't use their day creams as they tend to be just a tad too rich for my combination skin; but this range has been lovely for a quick pick-me-up - the Sleep Mask especially! In just a short space of time, my skin looks much more wide awake and even toned in the mornings and very smooth too! The day cream gives a nice glow to the skin without feeling heavy or looking greasy and the eye cream provides all day moisture which not only is it essential for feeling comfortable and preventing wrinkles, I need a good base for applying concealer with too.

In recent years, we've discovered just how great K-beauty can be (but also how strict their skincare regimes are), and this is another one I've been enjoying which is a soap from Caolion. Now when Caolion reached out to me again, I was left very excited as I absolutely love their Pore Tightening duo which I'd only just recently finished the moisturiser half of the duo.

This is the smaller size which can purchased from Boots although if you want the full size, you purchase online form Cult Beauty. It looks like a liquorice sweet, doesn't it? This soap is for oily/combination skins. It contains Charcoal powder, Cocoa and Medicinal herb powder along with Hyaluronic acid and Sparking water. It also comes with a fair amount of oils too, including Lavender, Shea butter and Olive to help balance, nourish and calm the skin.

Cocoa and Charcoal powder along with the bubbles from the sparkling water help to eliminate impurities inside pores and blackheads, and helps with sebum control too. It also works as an exfoliator, and apparently can be also used to remove make-up. But I chose not to use it as that as I much prefer using cleansing oils instead

Generally, I'm not a huge fan of soaps so I rarely use them because I found they strip my skin but I have to say this one has shared the most softest lathers I have ever experience! I don't suffer with blackheads but I do suffer with open pores, and after just giving it one go, I noticed a difference in the look of my pores, and my skin looked more matte too!

Caolion O2 Sparkling Soap

This shampoo proved to be a bit of a bargain buy as normally this would cost around £10.00 from Debenhams but little ole me discovered it for £3.99 in TK Maxx. I've read a lot of hype surrounding products from Greek brand Korres, so I was keen to give this a try.

Korres relies on nature as it's sole provider and shares the view of producing safe, clinically effective but affordable natural products. They contain no mineral oil, paraffin wax, no parabens and no silicones. A lot of their products are vegan-friendly too (just need to check the ingredients) and I have to say, I'm really loving this shampoo, which is specially formulated for my colour-treated hair. This contains organic extracts of dittany, marjoram & mountain tea from the island of Crete.

Between the time after I wash my hair but before I've added conditioner, my hair always feels so stripped and dry. It feels like a bird's nest! This shampoo is really lovely, and leaves my hair feeling  soft before I've even applied conditioner. And after I've applied conditioner, my hair feels even softer! It feels as though it helps the conditioner to work much more effectively, if that makes any sense.

Have you tried any of these products?

Toni. xoxo

  1. I am loving Caolion soap too. It's a bit weird to use though as I usually am not used to use solid soaps. Love that it cleans pores effectively and mattifies skin. I do quickly reach for moisturiser though. I should check out Korres products in tkmaxx. Great post.

  2. Sounds like a nice range, I am all about Vitamin C and the glow, will check these out. Nice shots.
