New, affordable and currently loving - Skincare!

Happy Easter, everyone!

Today’s post features some great affordable buys that are definitely worth checking out! I’m going to cut-out my initial ramblings and get straight to the products.

Micellar Waters have become so popular over the years, and whether you love them or loathe them, they are seen as a go-to all-in-one cleanser and makeup removal. Originated in France as an alternative to the harsh water system when washing the face, before later becoming the hot product for quick makeup removal backstage during fashion events. Nivea has become the official backstage care partner of ITV’s The Voice UK, with their new MicellAIR range that’s used by makeup artists.

There will always be a bottle of Micellar water of some kind available on the dressing table, and despite mainly choosing to double cleanse when removing my makeup, they're great for travelling with or for those days when I'm feeling really lazy and just want to flop into bed! They're also handy to have on hand for makeup mishaps or for a quick freshen up in the mornings.

The MicellAIR Skin Breathe Makeup Remover* £4.49 (although no doubt will always be on offer) has fast become my favourite micellar water as the formula feels so soft and gentle on my skin when removing makeup. It’s a revolutionary all-in-1 cleansing fluid that works like a magnet to capture and lift away dirt and make-up without any rubbing or rinsing. This is a very mild formula that’s suitable for even sensitive skins as it contains grape seed oil to help calm skin and contains no fragrance. While other micellar waters can leave behind a filmy residue, this one leaves you with 0% product residue resulting in fresh, hydrated skin that can breathe. I knew straight away this was going to be good’un because even the soaked cotton pad (which some of those can feel really scratchy at times) felt a lot softer and so much nicer to use.

I mentioned that I love to pack a bottle for trips away, and the additional smaller size that they've added to the range makes this incredibly travel-friendly!

The next two products I picked up whilst mooching around Aldi. It's not a store that’s within walking distance for me (I don’t drive), but after all the hype surrounding the Jo Malone dupes featured on Instagram (I ended up not liking them at all!) I decided to pay a visit. I became intrigued by the ‘lookey likey’ Nip and Fab Daily Exfoliating Pads from Lacura and the Hot Cloth Cleanser (also from the brand) and I have to say these are definitely worth a look.

The Nip & Fab ones are favoured by so many and I still can’t believe I haven’t tried them; but for £3.49, these aren’t going to break the bank if you haven’t yet discovered exfoliation in a liquid form or the use of pads. Like I just said, I still haven’t tried the ones from Nip & Fab, so I can’t comment on whether these are an exact dupe or the strength, but they do feel enough to keep on top of your acid game whilst on your hols, with the pot making a great alternative to packing a bottle. One thing I will flag for those of you who may be sensitive to fragrance is that these do come with a fruity scent and have also noticed Parfum listed in the ingredients.

For just £3.99, the Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser is a really nice cleanser that I highly recommend if you’re on a budget and can't quite stretch to Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish. I need to do more research before I can I confirm it's an out right dupe, but when you look at the first three ingredients, they are exactly the same!

The Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser comes boxed with a muslin cloth included which let's face it, you can never have enough of those! The formula is an all-in-one cleanser/exfoliator that has a thick creamy consistency and contains Cocoa Butter & Eucalyptus Oil and extracts of Chamomile, Rosemary and White Tea. Now I’m not normally a fan of that eucalyptus smell unless it's blended with other scents, but it’s very mild and soon dissipates once massaged. I love how smooth my skin feels afterwards and I think this is great if you're after something gentle to use everyday as either a first cleanse to remove makeup or as a standard second cleanse.

After the dreadful weather we’ve been having and not exactly having the best start to Spring, these lip balms have been a god-send! I say these, it should have been just the Eucerin Intensive Lip Balm* -£5 upwards (which is just brilliant and one of the best out there for repairing severely cracked lips) because my kids soon whipped away the colourful lipstick ones from Nivea out of sight and didn't get the chance to try them properly…KIDS!!! But they love these lip balms because they can kill two birds with one stone as they are tinted and give the illusion they are wearing a light coloured lipstick while keeping their lips moisturised. They love keeping these in their blazer pocket so they can whip them out whilst in the classroom.

Have you tried any of these products? Which budget buys have you discovered lately?

Toni. xoxo
